I’m learning all about Buddhism, the path to enlightenment. I realise it could be the religion I’ve been searching for all these years. I’ve copied a quote here from Siddhartha Gautama, commonly referred to as Buddha:
Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, but concentrate the mind on the present moment.
Good advice, isn’t it? If we live in the past we’re constantly thinking of golden days long gone, regrets, past wrongs, or things that we should have done. If we live in the future and dream of what we could be or could do if only we had the time, money or inclination, then we become unsatisfied with our lives as they are.
To live in the present is to live one day at a time and savour it. The longer I live the more I think it’s best to enjoy each day as it comes.
Do you live in the past, the present, or the future?
