Covid Vaccination

Have you had your Covid vaccine yet? I’m in the next group to be called after the present one is done, and I must admit I’m a little apprehensive.

Why? Well, it’s because of all the radiotherapy I’ve had in the past. Thirty external beam radiation treatments and four radioiodine treatments to the neck have made my neck tissue very sensitive on the inside. It has the potential to swell up if I take any new prescription drug, have an insect bite, or inhale fragrances/perfumes or the fumes from gloss paint. I’ve had to go to A&E on one occasion when my neck was swollen so much that I couldn’t swallow or talk and I had trouble breathing.

I got in touch with my GP who has been kind enough to refer me to Ipswich Hospital where I can be monitored immediately after having the vaccine. I do have a bit of a dark sense of humour, and I can imagine a whole room of us sensitives sitting there twitching and waiting for allergic reactions to kick in. The Resuss Team will be rushed off their feet!

The GP doesn’t know how long I’ll have to wait. Anyway, the ball is rolling so to speak, and now it looks as though I can have the jab after all.

Did you have any allergic reaction after having your vaccine? Which vaccine were you given (AstraZeneca or Pfizer?)?
